Project Overview

As part of a £5 million development led by Vale of Glamorgan Council, St Nicholas Church of Wales Primary School has undergone a transformative upgrade, prioritising sustainability and efficiency. The integration of two MasterTherm BA60i units marks a significant step towards modernising the school's heating infrastructure, ensuring reliable provision of heating and hot water.
This compactly designed ASHP operates by extracting heat from the ambient air outside and transferring it indoors for heating purposes. Through a refrigeration cycle, the unit compresses and releases refrigerant to absorb heat from the outdoor air, converting it into usable warmth for indoor spaces, ensuring efficient heating year-round.
Powered by advanced technology, these units are complemented by a PGDX controller, enabling precise energy management tailored to the school's needs. With remote monitoring capabilities, facility managers can optimise performance while minimising energy wastage.
Furthermore, the integration of a Building Management System (BMS) streamlines operations, allowing for centralised control and monitoring of heating systems. This holistic approach not only enhances comfort but also promotes environmental sustainability, aligning with the council's commitment to green initiatives.
The St Nicholas Church of Wales Primary School development serves as a model for sustainable school infrastructure, showcasing the benefits of investing in energy-efficient solutions for educational institutions. Through collaboration between the council and cutting-edge technology, the project sets a precedent for future developments, emphasising the importance of sustainability in educational facilities.
