When fitting a wood fired boiler, or biomass system it is recommended that a thermal safety valve is fitted to the system to prevent overheating. The heat sensitive element, immersed in the boiler water, expands as temperature increases thus causing the valve plug to open when the temperature reaches the set value. The valve is furnished with 2 heat sensitive elements; in the event of failure of one element, the other will assure that the valve is operational.

Maintenance
To ensure correct operation of the thermal safety drain over the long-term, periodic drainage of the valve is required (at least once a year); to perform such operation, press the red discharge button located at the top of the valve head. Such operation allows cleaning the seal seat where foreign particles build up. After a certain number of periodic cleaning operations, it is advisable to replace the valve plug which is supplied as spare part.
