Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme

Funding option for energy efficient home improvements in England.

The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme (LADS) was launched in August 2020 as part of the Chancellor’s £2 billion Green Homes Grant scheme. The Green Homes Grant came to an end on the 31st March 2021, however the Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery scheme continues with an additional £300 million in funding and now is in its second phase – 1B.

Each local authority in England was provided with the opportunity to apply for the funding and for phase 1B, a total of 61 local authorities have been approved. Click here to see the full list of approved local authorities. The scheme is also being delivered through Local Energy Hubs for regional delivery. These Local Energy Hubs will distribute the additional £300 million of funding.

The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery scheme aims to improve energy efficiency of households that have a low income and poor energy performance rating to reduce fuel poverty and phase out fossil fuel heating, making progress toward the UK’s net zero carbon target by 2050.

Through the Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery, homeowners can apply for grants toward home improvements including insulation, solar pv or solar thermal and heat pumps. To qualify for the grant, households should have an EPC rating of band D or lower and household income must not exceed a certain threshold. This threshold is dependent on each local authority, but is generally around £30,000. It can be impacted by the number of dependent children in each household and if an area has higher housing costs.

To ensure that you are able to obtain the funding, we recommend choosing an installer who is MCS and Trustmark accredited.

If you’re based in England and interested in obtaining a grant for home improvements that will deliver greater energy efficiency, get in touch with your local authority to see what they are able to offer you. In most cases, your local authority will have a dedicated application form and you should be able to apply online.
