Year-Round comfort to this home and barn:
Introduction
In our latest project, we successfully installed three MasterTherm AQ37 air source heat pumps, creating an efficient and sustainable heating solution for a main house and a barn. This installation involved a 6 BH field array, with two of the AQ37 units feeding the main house via REHAU pre-insulated pipes, and the third unit dedicated to the barn.
Project Overview
1. Site Preparation
The first step in our project was to prepare the site for the installation of the heat pumps. This involved:
Conducting a thorough site survey to determine the best location for the heat pumps and the field array.
Ensuring the ground was level and free from obstructions.
2. Installation of Heat Pumps
The installation of the three MasterTherm AQ37 units were carried out by our team of certified professionals. Key steps included:
Positioning the heat pumps in the designated plant room within the barn area.
Connecting the heat pumps to the field array, ensuring all connections were secure and leak-free.
Integrating the REHAU pre-insulated pipes to transport heat efficiently from the pumps to the main house and barn.
3. Piping and Insulation
To maximize efficiency and minimize heat loss, we used REHAU pre-insulated pipes. These pipes are designed to maintain water temperature during transit, ensuring optimal energy efficiency. The piping system was configured as follows:
Two AQ37 units were connected to the main house via REHAU pre-insulated pipes.
The third AQ37 unit was dedicated to the barn, with its own set of pre-insulated pipes.
4. Hot Water and Cylinders
Connecting the heat pumps to the hot water cylinders.
Ensuring the cylinders were properly insulated to prevent heat loss.
Setting up a control system to manage the distribution of hot water to both properties.
5. System Testing and Commissioning
After the installation was complete, we conducted a series of tests to ensure the system was functioning correctly. This included:
Checking for any leaks or issues in the piping and connections.
Verifying that the heat pumps were operating at optimal efficiency.
Testing the hot water distribution system to ensure consistent and reliable performance.
