Our energy system is clearly at a turning point. Homes are no longer mere "end users"; they now play a critical role in the energy ecosystem. This was evident during Mark McAllistar’s recent visit to Eastern High, Cardiff, where he witnessed firsthand the transformative potential of renewable energy solutions.
At Thermal Earth, our mission is to support the social housing sector and its residents during this pivotal energy transition. We see a real opportunity to make a difference. Service-led models that drive both affordability and sustainability will be essential moving forward, and we’re excited to share real-world experiences.
Our dedication is evident in projects like Addison House, where energy generation is maximized for the benefit of all residents. Energy stored in a central battery is used to power a ground-source heat pump district heating system. Impressively, around 90% of the generated energy is consumed within the building. For extended periods this summer, Addison House operated completely off-grid, showcasing the potential for independent energy systems.
Thermal Earth’s contribution to the renewable energy landscape is significant. We helped install over 170 homes with MasterTherm AQ70 heat pumps. These installations not only enhance energy efficiency but also demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of sustainable energy solutions in residential settings.
As we continue to support the social housing sector, we remain committed to providing innovative solutions that promote a greener and more sustainable future. With leaders like Mark McAllistar acknowledging the importance of these advancements, we are confident that the renewable energy sector will continue to grow and thrive.
